English A colorimetric probe for the detection of a mutagenic DNA adduct within a sequence was created. The probe involves incorporation of a synthetic nucleoside that selectively pairs opposite a target DNA adduct into oligonucleotides conjugated to gold nanoparticles (AuNPs).
